Campsites in Hawaii
Here’s an incomplete list of campsites and cabins on the islands. Not included are most typical beach camping sites. Both commercial and state sites are listed.
Kauai
- Koke’e State Park cabins – rustic, road accessible, cabins, tent, one restaurant nearby, access to hikng trails, Kalalau Lookout area.
- Kalalau Valley – access via 11-mile Kalalau Trail, permit-camping, tent camping, remote.
- Polihale State park – dirt road access, permit-camping, tent, beach
Oahu
- Waimanalo Shoreline Park (aka “Sherwood Forest”) – road access, beach, permit-camping, tenting,
- Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden – road access, permit-camping, tenting, five camping areas
- Keaiwa State Park – road access, permit-camping, tenting.
- Kahana State Park – road access, permit-camping, tent
- Malekahana State Recreation Area – road access, permit-camping, beach, tent
- Kualoa Regional Park – road access, permit camping, tents, beach.
- Camp Mokuleia – road access, rental cabins, rental campsites, beach.
- Our Lady of Kea’au – road access, rental cabins, near beach.
Maui
- Haleakala National Park – permit camping, three cabins, tenting, five mile plus trail access
- Polipoli Springs State park – unimproved road access, permit camping, rental cottage
- Waianapa State park – road access, permit camping, rental cottage
Molokai
- Pala’au State park – road access, permit camping, Kalaupapa Overlook
Hawaii (Big Island)
- Hawaii Volcanoes National Park – Pa Makani Naio Campgrounds – road access, permit camping, rental cabins, tenting
- Mauna Loa – Lava trail ten plus miles depending on entry point, permit camping, tents, summit cabin
- Kalopa State Recreational Area – road access, permit camping, rental cabins, tenting
- Manuka Wayside Park – road access, permit camping
- Kiholo State Park Preserve – road access, permit camping.
